Frequently asked questions

What is freeze-drying?

Freeze-drying is a process that removes moisture from food by freezing it and then gently turning the ice into vapor, keeping the food’s flavor, nutrients, and texture locked in for long-lasting freshness.

Is freeze-drying the same thing as dehydrating?

No, freeze-drying and dehydrating both remove moisture, but freeze-drying does it at low temperatures to better preserve flavor, nutrients, and texture, while dehydrating uses heat and can change how the food tastes and feels.

How long do freeze-dried meals last?

When stored properly, our freeze-dried meals can last up to 25 years. Because we remove nearly all the moisture, the food stays fresh, flavorful, and safe for years without refrigeration.
Whether you’re stocking your pantry, prepping for adventure, or just want an easy meal on hand, our goal is that it tastes just as good down the road as the day we made it.

How are your meals prepared?

All of our meals start in our own kitchen, the same way we’d cook our favorite Sunday dinner. We prepare every recipe ourselves, then freeze-dry it right here at home to lock in freshness and flavor. From labeling and packaging to shipping your order, it’s all done by the two of us, start to finish.
